Ryaan Ibtisam - Class of 2023
Before Law School…
I graduated from Miami University (Ohio) in 2018 with a degree in Finance. I went on some adventures before starting work in mergers & acquisitions in Texas. While working, I started a risk assessment firm to perform due diligence for a potential acquirer looking to merge.
Why WVU Law?
I moved to the United States six years ago with a dream of becoming an American lawyer. Finding the right law school was imperative for me. When I visited WVU, Professor Rhee gave me an hour of his time to answer my questions, and Alice went above and beyond to make me feel welcome.
I chose WVU Law because of the kind people, the positive atmosphere and because I felt like I belonged. Country roads have truly brought me home.
Law Interest?
The law is very fascinating to me and I love every aspect of it. My primary interest is in corporate & securities law. I would love to have transactional work be a part of my job.
In 10 years…
In 10 years I hope to be spreading kindness and positivity to everyone I meet. Striving to give the underrepresented population a voice and sufficient representation. But to pay the bills, I’d like to be working in private equity or at a hedge fund.
Outside of Law School…
I love going on little adventures to explore the city, state, and country. I also absolutely adore cars and Formula 1 racing. I am an avid animal person and share my house with a small white bird, who is also a law student.
Among my many different interests, my favorite is finding the time to talk to my mom, dad and sisters. We all live in 4 different continents, so it’s an important part of my day to make an effort to speak to them individually.
