Biography

Jennifer Stephens joined the faculty of the College of Law in 2024 after spending many years as a litigator.

Professor Stephens clerked for the Honorable Lawrance S. Miller, Jr. in the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit of West Virginia for one year after law school graduation before starting her practice.  In private practice, she focused on family law litigation, including substantial pro bono representation of victims of domestic violence, and served on the Board of Directors for the Rape and Domestic Violence Center in Morgantown.  Professor Stephens served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for eleven years, concentrating on child abuse and neglect cases and prosecuting felony cases concerning crimes against children.

Professor Stephens served as an Adjunct Clinical Supervisor for the College of Law’s Child and Family Advocacy Clinic for five years, supervising teams of students representing children and litigants in Family Court.

Professor Stephens is a lifelong West Virginian and is proud to call Morgantown home, along with her family and their feline companions.
