What is your favorite law school memory?
My favorite law school memory has to be getting to know our class. Specifically, in between our first-year classes, I would get in front of the class and play "Hang Man." It was a very fun and interactive way to get to know everyone and relieve some stress during our 1L year. I am thankful for WVU College of Law for giving me the opportunity to receive a quality education and to make so many lifelong friends along the way.
Who/what inspired you to to go law school?
My parents, Bernie and Debbie Bertus, inspired me to go to law school because it opens so many doors for my future.
Who would you like to thank?
First, I would like to thank my mom and dad, Bernie and Debbie Bertus, for always being there for me through thick and thin. I wouldn't be who and where I am today without you. Second, I would like to thank my sisters, Devon and Brooke, and my nephew, Ledger, for your love and support. Third, I would like to thank my girlfriend, Samantha Katchen, for being so supportive and being able to take my mind off of law school when needed. Thank you and I love you all.
Next, I would like to thank my fellow classmates Josh Stephan and Austin Tomlinson, for being beside me during this long ride. Thanks for the great memories and for all the long all night grind sessions during finals.
Lastly, I would like to thank all of my professors, especially, Professor Lofaso for being a great mentor. Thank you for all the legal and life lessons you've taught me throughout law school.
I would not have survived law school without all of your love and support. I cannot put into words how thankful I am for each of you. Thank you all.
