A LITTLE LATE, BUT HERE WE ARE.
I can hardly believe how quickly the last two years have sped by - everyone told me it would, but I guess I was so wrapped up in everything it was too hard to step back and take a deep breath. Now, I am.
This summer, or should I say, the last summer of my law school experience (and no, bar studying next year doesn’t count), I’m spending in Pittsburgh. The City of Bridges. And steel. And Penguins, Pirates, and Steelers. Where salads always come with french fries, and where “yinz” and “yous” replace the “ya’ll”s I grew up with.
I’m working for a wonderful firm in the heart of downtown, where no two days are the same. From day one, it’s been nothing but hands on experience. I didn’t know anything about maritime law a few weeks ago; now, at least, I can tell the difference between port from starboard (go ahead, laugh), and I don’t freeze when the term “Jones Act” seaman comes up.
Week One: Post-deposition Ferry ride with my boss!
When I’m not working, I do my best to take advantage of all this city has to offer: quite the task! For those of you in Morgantown this summer (or for those planning ahead for the fall semester), I HIGHLY suggest a weekend/day trip to visit.
One of my favorite things to do is the Monthly Keg Tap at the Hofbräuhaus- a little taste of Germany, in the South Side.
This week also marks the kick off of the Three Rivers Arts Festival I’m hoping to check out the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra- and did I mention, it’s FREE?!
