Since its inception, the West Virginia Law Institute has endeavored to fulfill its legislative mandate to promote and encourage the clarification and simplification of the law of West Virginia.

A state organization whose members consist of leading lawyers, judges, and legal scholars, the Institute’s work has constituted initiatives in reforms of major pieces of legislation such as the Intestate Succession Project, the Tax Delinquent Property Project, the Uniform Adoption Act, and the Business Corporations Act and the Nonprofit Corporations Act.

All attorneys in good standing and licensed to practice law in West Virginia are invited to submit suggestions for future projects for research and legislation as directed by W. Va. Code – 4-12-2 to the WV Law Institute.
