Dr. Steven Kinsey
Dr. Kinsey is an Assistant Professor in WVU's Behavioral Neuroscience Program. He received his Ph.D. from the Ohio State University in 2007, after which he completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Virginia Commonwealth University. He joined the WVU faculty in August, 2011 as an Assistant Professor.Dr. Kinsey is a biomedical researcher with specialized training in behavioral neuroscience. His strong research interests in modulating stress and emotionality led him to obtain postdoctoral training in cannabinoid pharmacology. His current research interests on the effects of stress and endogenous cannabinoids on pain and emotionality is evidenced by a publication record in a broad range of journals, including work on stress, inflammation, emotionality, and neuropathic and inflammatory pain models. The ultimate goal of his empirical work is to identify targets for the development of new pharmacological treatments for inflammatory and emotional disorders in humans.
J. Morgan Leach
J. Morgan is an aspiring young attorney who is currently finishing up his final semester at WVU College of Law. He is working on a concentration from the Center for Energy and Sustainable Development. Morgan has taken a keen interest in the field of industrial and medical cannabis, sprouting from his interest in local foods and sustainable agriculture. Morgan is well versed in the legal and regulatory requirements for the new wave of cannabis entrepreneurs in West Virginia. He is a co-founder of the state's first Hemp Farming Cooperative, WVHFC Inc., and is the Executive Director of the WVHIA, a trade association dedicated to the fair treatment of hemp farmers, researchers, processors, and entrepreneurs.
C. Clark Milton, D.O.
Dr. C.Clark Milton is the Osteopathic Director of Medical Education at Wheeling (WV) Hospital. A graduate of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, he completed an osteopathic internship in Portland, Maine, and his residency in internal medicine at Ohio Valley Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Medical Review Officer Certification and Board of Independent Medical Examiners. Dr. Milton also is a Fellow in the American College of Osteopathic Internists.
Jesse Richardson
Jesse Richardson is an Associate Professor and the Lead Land Use Attorney at the Land Use and Sustainable Development Law Clinic at the West Virginia University College of Law. Before coming to WVU, Richardson was an Associate Professor at Virginia Tech. His research and experience focuses on land use law and water law. Jesse began his legal career in private practice in his home town of Winchester, Virginia, first with a large law firm, then as a solo practitioner. He presently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Agricultural Law Association and is the Past President. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the and the National Cave and Karst Research Institute. He previously served on the Boards of Directors of the Virginia Cave Board and Universities Council on Water Resources, Virginia Farmland Protection Task Force and the Virginia Water Policy Technical Advisory Committee. Jesse was honored with the 1999 Professional Scholarship Award from the American Agricultural Law Association, the 2004 William E. Wine Award for a history of teaching Excellence from Virginia Tech (the highest teaching award granted by the university), and the 2009 University Certificate of Excellence in Outreach. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Virginia Tech and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
Natasha Smith
Natasha Smith is from Wheeling, WV and received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from West Virginia University in 2009. She was first introduced to the plastic and resins industry during her two summer internships at Bayer Material Science. There, she worked with a team to develop a zero VOC polyaspartic coating formulation. Before entering graduate school, Natasha spent a year at The Linsly School in Wheeling, WV where she was a substitute teacher, tutor, mentor, and coach. Natasha is currently working towards her PhD in physical chemistry with Dr. Sanford Asher at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research focuses on the design of volume responsive polymers and the development of photonic crystal sensing materials for detection of hazardous materials and clinically important compounds. Her work in responsive ionic liquid-polymer systems was published in Analyst and presented at several international conferences. Driven by a passion for effective science communication, Natasha has attended many workshops and seminars on science communication, rhetoric, policy, and advocacy. She was most recently named a science communication fellow at the Phipps Conservatory and Center for Sustainable Landscapes in Pittsburgh, PA.
Don Smith II
Don Smith II has accumulated a broad spectrum of business and work experience in close to thirty-five years of semi-independent endeavors. With a unique perspective, experience, and knowledge in agriculture, heavy industry, secure communications, and political intervention, a keen ability to interpret “big picture” scenarios for futuristic sustainable industries attached to commercial agriculture has been developed. His concentration on combining entrepreneurialism in industry and agriculture has led him to be the sole owner of STAG Standard Agriculture LTD, and co founder of both Agri Carb Electric Corporation ACE CORP, and West Virginia Hemp Farmers Cooperative Corporation WVHFC. Currently, he is also on the Board of Directors of the Minutemen Farmers Cooperative, a newly formed fifty State, five US Territory, Veterans based cooperative.
