Uniform Bar Exam

West Virginia is one of 38 jurisdictions that participate in the Uniform Bar Exam (UBE). This is really good news for our law students.

The score on the UBE is portable to participating jurisdictions.

If you take the UBE in West Virginia, your score can be transferred to other UBE jurisdictions, like New York, Massachusetts, Oregon or Colorado. Furthermore, a non-passing score in West Virginia might be passing score in another UBE state.

The UBE passing score in West Virginia is 270.

To practice in another UBE state, you will still need character and fitness certification. Also, there may be other requirements, such as an online quiz for state-specific laws — but you don't have to take that state's bar exam.

That means, more than ever before, you really can practice anywhere with a law degree from WVU.
