ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund
Educational Access Scholarship
The WVU College of Law Educational Access Scholarship will be awarded in an amount of up to $10,000 per year for three years to a student of diversity. Please see the diversity criteria below. This scholarship can only be applied to tuition and fees.
To be considered for the Educational Access Scholarship, a student must apply to WVU College of Law by March 1.
Diversity Criteria
A candidate for the Educational Access Scholarship must meet one of the following diversity criteria:
- Age (non-traditional).
- First-generation (undergraduate) college student.
- Gender.
- Geographic (including Appalachian heritage).
- Race/Ethnicity.
- Sexual orientation.
- Socioeconomic status.
- Other factors that may contribute to a well-rounded student body.

Educational Opportunity Merit Waiver
WVU provides the College of Law with a number of merit tuition waivers that we may award to competitively selected graduate students. The purpose of these merit waivers is to help WVU Law recruit and retain students and to help these students graduate in a timely manner. See WVU Tuition Waivers.
To be considered for the Educational Opportunity Merit Waiver, a student must apply to WVU College of Law by March 1.
When awarding waivers, multiple diversity factors may be considered, including:
- Age
- First-generation college student
- Gender Geographic (including Appalachian heritage)
- Race/Ethnicity
- Sexual orientation
- Socioeconomic status
- Other factors that may contribute to a well-rounded student body
