Boredom is not an option. As members of a large university community, our law students can take full advantage of WVU’s facilities and amenities. Plus, there’s West Virginia’s legendary “wild and wonderful” outdoor recreational experiences, like hiking, biking, and whitewater rafting. Morgantown offers lots of entertainment, shopping, and dining.

WVU Student Rec Center

Student Recreation CenterWVU’s Student Recreation Center a 177,000 sq. ft. facility is located less than a mile from the College of Law. The facility features weight and fitness equipment; a 50-foot climbing wall; a three-court gym for basketball, volleyball, and badminton; a 3-lane, elevated track; racquetball courts; a squash court; a café; a leisure pool with a bench-style entry; a whirlpool that seats 20; a six-lane pool for laps; and an outdoor recreation center where students can check out ski, camping, and other equipment. Aerobics, yoga, cycle-fit, and martial arts are offered. A friendly staff assists with personal exercise and nutritional programs. Complimentary child care during evenings and weekends, long operating hours, and ample parking make the Student Recreation Center convenient for the busy law student.

Sporting EventsWVU has a strong tradition of excellence in athletics. From legends like Jerry West (his outline is on the NBA logo) to Olympic competitors and national champions, WVU athletics are justly famous. During football Saturdays, Morgantown temporarily becomes the state’s largest city when fans dressed in gold and blue fill WVU’s 63,500-seat capacity stadium. The Law Center is an integral part of football Saturdays as it overlooks WVU’s football stadium and provides wide-open spaces for outdoor recreation and a gathering place for students on game days. Admission to most WVU sporting events is available to law students at no additional charge.

Intramurals – Stay active by enjoying individual and competitive team sports through WVU’s intramural events. Sports include flag football, tennis, golf, volleyball, bowling, basketball, indoor soccer, wiffleball, and more.

Barrister’s Ball – The Student Bar Association (SBA) organizes an annual Barrister’s Ball each spring for the students, faculty, and staff of the College of Law. An evening of fine food and dancing makes the Barrister’s Ball the College of Law’s most highly anticipated social event of the year.

WVU’s Sports Club FederationWVU’s Sports Club Federation consists of approximately 20 sport clubs, including crew, equestrian, fencing, ice hockey, men’s lacrosse, racquetball, rugby, scuba, skiing, tae kwon do, volleyball, and whitewater rafting.

WVU Arts & Entertainment – Broadway productions, popular performers, musicians, comedians, dancers, films, and guest lecturers provide a season of entertainment and culture at the WVU Creative Arts Center and various venues around campus. The University Arts Series is available in a subscription ticket package to students faculty and the general public. Concerts featuring popular bands, and live performances by the popular public radio program “Mountain Stage” are scheduled throughout the year. WVUp All Night is a program of activities sponsored by the Mountainlair, the university’s student union. It is a program of free activities, events, and food each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. The Mountainlair’s Gluck theater shows free classic films and blockbuster movies at low admission price during the weekend, and a comedy show is presented each Thursday during the school year.
