Wilson elected editor-in-chief of the West Virginia Law Review

MORGANTOWN, WEST VIRGINIA -- Ben Wilson, a second-year student at the West Virginia University College of Law, has been chosen by his peers to serve as editor-in-chief of the West Virginia Law Review for the 2016-17 academic year.

Founded in 1894, the West Virginia Law Review is the fourth oldest law review in the country. It is a professional, student-governed legal journal that publishes articles of interest to legal scholars, students, legislators and lawyers.

“It is really an honor to be elected to this position and very humbling, as well,” Wilson said. “The law review was an organization I set my sights on in my first year and to even achieve that was an honor. But this has become so much more and I am really excited to have this opportunity."

As editor-in-chief of Volume 119 of the West Virginia Law Review, Wilson will be responsible for leading a team to publish three issues that provide a practical and theoretical value to the greater legal community. He will also play a lead role in organizing a symposium and overseeing the law review’s online presence.

“One of our main goals for Volume 119 is continuing the development of the West Virginia Law Review Online. We believe the law review online can be a great platform for West Virginia practitioners and address state-specific issues,” he said. “More broadly, we want to continue to build on the historic legacy of the law review for the issues that come after us.”

Wilson earned his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and was a ranger at Muskegon State Park before enrolling in law school. He is currently an associate editor for Volume 118 of the West Virginia Law Review and vice justice of WVU chapter of Phi Alpha Delta, the international law society. This summer, he will join WVU Law’s study abroad programs in Guanajuato, Mexico, and Geneva, Switzerland.
