Legal Study in Guanajuato, Mexico 2008 FAQs
What?
Study international and comparative law in Guanajuato, Mexico. Lectures and seminars will be led by WVU law professors. All lectures will be in English. We will visit Mexican legal institutions, as well as hold classes in at the University of Guanajuato and other locations around the city. We will meet during the Spring Semester for cultural and language instruction, as well as discussions of assigned readings.
Who is leading the program?
Professor James Friedberg and professor andré cummings will lead the trip.
Who can come?
The trip is open to any WVU law student in good academic standing including first year students. Other graduate students (such as MBA students) or anyone else would need to talk to professor cummings.
When?
May 18 –May 31, 2008
This schedule gives you 10 or 11 weeks to work over the summer.
1Ls will still be able to write on to Law Review.
How much?
In 2008, the WVU College of Law program will cost $1995, which includes tuition, travel and tours within Guanajuato, all housing, insurance, and many meals.
Round trip air fare is about $840 per person (not included in the program fee).
You will also need a passport
Financial aid will cover the cost of the program. Please talk with Eric Meadows, the law school financial aid officer, to begin the process.
Out of state students pay in-state tuition for this program (excellent value).
Optional activities (such as clubs, drinks and optional excursions) are not included.
Housing
We will be housed in a nearby hotel. Professor Friedberg is researching various possibilities. More information will be available soon.
