Mission Statement

It is the mission of the West Virginia University College of Law to educate students to become lawyers and leaders who are ethical, skilled, committed to public service, and competent to be critics and reformers of the law. It is our mission to educate students to be just and able creators and implementers of policy and to create and maintain an engaging and rigorous intellectual environment that lays a foundation for life-long learning. We prepare our lawyers to serve the legal profession in West Virginia, the national, and the international community through significant research, service in professional organizations, and law reform activities; to fulfill its public obligation to the state and its citizens. It is the mission of the West Virginia University College of Law to create and maintain a state, national, and international reputation for excellence.
